I Started A Podcast! It's called "Mompowerment"!

Nov 26, 2020

Hi I’m Dr. Karin Jakubowski, a public school principal and I am passionate about helping kids become a better version of themselves. Early on in my career as a teacher, I had some very challenging students. I worked so hard to connect with them, have lunch with them, try and find out what made them tick to help them be more successful doing this thing we call “school.”

It wasn’t until I became a child study team facilitator that I learned an approach to help understand why kids did what they did, and help them problem solve to find solutions to their issues, challenges and unexpected behaviors.

I am committed to helping parents and educators better understand kids, so that we can help them even in their most challenging moments. My goal is for you and your kids to live a happy and healthy life - and I know it’s possible if we learn to understand them and help them in their lowest moments.

Does your child struggle in an area, and you secretly hope the problem will just go away and or that they’ll outgrow it?  I created this show to help parents hear from experts and get answers you need to help your child especially when it’s something challenging that you feel helpless with.

I want to help you feel empowered to help your child even in their most challenging times. Start listening to these interviews today, so you can begin feeling empowered to help your child maybe when they are frustrated, or act up in school and get in trouble or struggle making friends. Imagine your family life filled with happiness, harmony and peace of mind.

I admit, I’m a sucker for the underdog. As a kid, I lied, cheated, and stole little things, but still, I was bad. So when a kid gets in trouble, I totally empathize with them, I know how they are feeling, I was that kid. I struggled with low self-esteem growing up and I don’t want any kid to live like that, no matter how challenging of a situation they’re experiencing that’s difficult for them.

That’s why I started this podcast to help you. I want to DEPOWER your thoughts and feelings of any SHAME you have felt by something your child did or said or struggled with. If I can become a successful principal with my doctorate, your child can also become someone great one day and THEY will share their story WHICH WILL inspire others.

Your child’s challenges today will be the experiences that bring others hope one day.

Imagine sitting in an audience one day, and your son or daughter walks up on the stage in front of thousands of people and they stop and say, “I’m here today because I struggled with poor self esteem growing up, but my mom helped me through it. Or … I once had behavior problems in school, but I learned how to overcome even in my darkest moments, and I’m here today to tell you how you don’t have to let life define you by the challenges you’ve experienced.

With a doctorate in Educational Leadership, and nearly 20  years of experience in education as a teacher, assistant principal and principal. My insights have been featured in various media outlets including The Washington Post and Delaware State News and heard in multiple speaking engagements including Delaware’s Policy and Practice and as far-reaching as India.

When you subscribe to this channel, you will learn from experts in the field to help you better understand your child. What if under all those challenging behaviors, you found our your child was a closet genius, would that be worth it to you?

I really want to see you be happy.  I’m going to come along side you, and we are going to walk through this together. It’s a passion of mine to see kids live happy, healthy lives. There’s no judgment here. I have committed my life to helping parents overcome the challenges with their kids. I’m a kid at heart. I’ve seen way too many kids stressed at school, do something bad and as a result spiral downward into low self-esteem and it doesn’t have to end up that way. Let’s start building up our kids. I’ll show you how, even when they do the worst thing or act in a horrible way. Their is hope for you and your child.

So before you go, I have one tip I want to leave you with. The next time your child does something that frustrates you, or you feel at a loss to help them. Maybe they just had a meltdown and you feel at a loss of what to say to help them. Stop yourself in the moment and before you do anything else, take three deep breaths. I’m telling you, it makes a world of difference. Those ten seconds will shift literally how you will react in the moment. Your brain will literally change it’s reaction, because you brought oxygen to your brain through those 3 breaths. I won’t get into all the science right now, but try it. For you, to help you in that moment. And watch the response you have afterwards that may help the situation. Try it. It was a gamechanger for me and I want you to try it the next time you feel the heat rising in your neck, your breath begin to get heavy, your heart start racing because of something your kid says or does. 2 deep breaths, can start to change everything.

So go click subscribe and let’s rewrite the future of your kids’ life today.
