Teens with Disabilities - Their Voice is Heard

Aug 16, 2021

Do you know someone who does triathlons? Well, that’s my friend Emily. I’ve thought about doing one, but at the moment my next goal is to run a half marathon. Baby steps, right?

Emily’s day job is a high school special ed teacher in Maryland where she works with teens who have intense and complex needs.

Emily gives us a unique opportunity by sharing with us what teachers say is and isn’t easy to do when teaching students with special needs.

AND...even more amazing to me, we get to learn what those students actually are saying could help them. They share with Emily feedback for teachers that can help them actually get through this thing we call ‘school’ that can be really challenging for them.

I think this episode is so insightful. I hope you find it helpful as well.

And if you know a teacher, please share it with them. It’s so valuable to hear from our students so we can constantly find ways to improve.
